Chronic Inflammation

A pilot human study measured common disinfectant chemicals used in some cleaners (quats) directly in blood and found higher levels were associated with inflammatory and cellular-energy (mitochondrial) biomarkers.

The Study

Participants with detectable disinfectant residues in their blood showed over 10× higher levels of TNF-α, a key inflammation marker, compared to those without detectable levels.
